What to Expect

THREE-DAY OFF SEASON

The event is spread over 3 days, with miniature elimination rounds at the end of each day. This means we have a full competition each day, you may be in 3 different alliances over the course of the weekend.

Longer Lunch & Pit Tear Down

Robots@CNE operates at the Largest Annual Fair in North America, we want to make sure that teams have a chance each day to explore & experience this! As such, lunch each day, as well as pit tear down after the event has 2 hour breaks to enjoy rides, food, and cultural exhibits.

Event Safety

Pit Expectations

Food and beverages are allowed in the pits.

Pits will have power available.

Pits are mainly for robot assembly, code fixes and showcasing your team.

Aisles are not to be crowded per fire safety regulations.

No more than 5 individuals associated with your team in the pit at a time.

We cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items, we advise having at least one person in your pit at all times.

Machine Shop / Power Tools

No power tools are to be used in the pits for public safety reasons. As the CNE is a family friendly event, pits must be kept from sharp objects & tools for the safety of young children.

Teams may bring power tools to use in the designated machine shop area with supervision. The machine shop is a restricted area, and may only be entered by designated team members.

Practice Field

The practice field may be used by teams, however they must be willing to explain, demonstrate, and engage with the public while on the practice field.

As Robots@CNE serves to engage and teach the general public about FIRST, the practice field will be publicly accessible & used for demonstrations at various times during the event.

Safety glasses

Safety glasses are only required for individuals entering the field area or the machine shop. Teams are expected to provide safety glasses for all team members or mentors expecting to go on the field or machine shop.
